What is systemic couples therapy?
In the initial stages, when we are working out what needs to be achieved, the systemic couples therapy focuses on the different expectations of both partners. The couples therapist then uses this as a basis to formulate a shared relationship goal.
It is important to identify relationship patterns and change them. The emphasis is not on treating individual “symptoms” of a larger issue.
The systemic couples therapy approach views crises as temporary events for which there are good reasons, and which can be used as an opportunity to change. If both partners are able to take responsibility in this process, then this attempt to change can succeed.
The effectiveness of systemic couples therapy is well established in modern psychotherapy research.

“Have patience with the unresolved issues in your heart, and try to love the questions themselves, as if they were locked rooms, or books written in a very foreign language. The point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.”
Rainer Maria Rilke, “Letter to a Young Poet“
